MODULE 01
Positioning Before Optimization
Why This Matters
Before changing your photo, headline, About section, or experience, decide what your profile should communicate. A profile that tries to show every skill creates confusion instead of trust.
What Clients Notice
A potential client quickly asks: what should I hire this person for? If the profile lists many unrelated skills, the client has to do the positioning work for you.
Weak Example
Virtual Assistant | Social Media Manager | Canva Designer | Lead Generation | Customer Service | Email Marketing | Data Entry
Strong Example
Social Media Manager helping coaches build a consistent online presence.
Action Framework
- Define your primary service.
- Name the type of client you want to attract.
- Identify the problem you help solve.
- Connect the service to the outcome you help create.
Quick Exercise
Complete this sentence: I help [client] achieve [outcome] through [service].
What This Means For You
Your positioning is the foundation for every other LinkedIn profile decision.
Do This Now
Write one clear positioning sentence before editing your headline or About section.
Before You Continue
- I can name my primary service.
- I know who the profile is meant to attract.
- I can describe the problem or outcome I want to be associated with.
- My profile does not lead with a random list of unrelated skills.
